2008 Facelift © - Another Success!

2008 Facelift - Another Success! A huge Thank You to everyone that came out to this years clean-up. You all did an outstanding job.

Over 2,000 people participated cleaning up trails, roadways, river corridors, campgrounds, lodging and housing areas. Several special projects which were headed by NPS crew leaders were completed as well. Some of those were the clean-up of a previous dump site in Tuolumne Meadows, the removal of some abandoned phone lines that ran to Nevada Falls and Mirror Lake and the removal of 400 old and rusted fire rings.
In all 41, 631 pounds of trash was picked up with two thirds of it being recycled. Over 100 miles of trail and sixty miles of roadway were cleaned up and over 1,000 pounds of non-native plant species were removed.
A very special thanks goes to all the kid's groups that particiapted: Yosemite Institute, the El Portal School, the Yosemite School and a Brownie Troop from Sacramento.

So many different user groups came together to help in this effort to take care of our beloved Yosemite. This event brings so much to us and we think, to everyone that particiapted and will participate in the future. We hope this event ripples out to all of your local areas with the understanding that the Facelift really isn't just for five days but that it's more of a way in which we should all conduct ourselves and take responsibility in our daily lives.
