Core Volunteer FAQ

Love Facelift? Want to get more deeply involved? Become a Core Volunteer!

What is a Core Volunteer?

Core Volunteers have volunteered or participated in previous Facelift events, and want to become more deeply involved in our mission of community and land stewardship. They are on board to lend a hand with a variety of tasks and have the flexibility to shift from one task to another, as needed. Core volunteers are committed to becoming an ongoing part of the YCA team that makes the Facelift event possible from year to year.

What will I be doing?

Duties vary depending on location. You may be asked to work a table providing information, register/check-in Facelift participants, handout litter sticks and bags, sort or weigh collected trash, lead a project, etc.

How many hours will I work?

We prefer our core volunteers to be available all day during the Facelift event, though we understand if you can only help out during a certain time of the day.

Will I get paid?

Volunteers receive no financial compensation, but have our deepest gratitude for the contribution of their time and talents.

Will transportation be provided?

Volunteers are responsible for their own transportation.

Can I bring my family?

Definitely! We encourage families to volunteer together. We do ask that you are able to remain focused on whatever task you’ve undertaken as a volunteer. Families will have to sign a separate waiver for each child under 18 years of age.

What should I wear/bring?

Plan to wear close-toed shoes and layers appropriate for changes in weather. Bring a rain/warm jacket, sunscreen, a hat, sun glasses, personal care items, a water bottle and food for the day.

Will food be provided?

Volunteers should plan to bring their lunch, snacks, and a filled water bottle.  At some events, there may be food available in the evenings; however, volunteers should not plan on this.
