What is Yosemite Facelift®?
Yosemite Facelift is more than a cleanup. It's five days of stewardship, community, and celebration in one of the world's most iconic landscapes.
Each September, thousands of volunteers come together to care for Yosemite National Park after its busiest season. Hosted by the Yosemite Climbing Association in partnership with the National Park Service, Facelift welcomes everyone, whether you're a climber, hiker, local resident, first-time visitor, family, student, veteran, or simply someone who loves public lands.
By day, volunteers remove trash, restore trails, protect wildlife habitat, and help preserve Yosemite for future generations. By night, they gather for films, guest speakers, educational programs, and community celebrations that remind us stewardship is about people as much as places.
Together, Facelift volunteers have removed more than one million pounds of trash from Yosemite, proving that when a community comes together, even the smallest actions can leave a lasting impact.

Online registration has closed, but walk-up volunteers are welcome!
When you arrive:
1. Come to the Yosemite Village Mall
Registration opens at 8 AM Wednesday–Saturday and 8 AM–12 PM Sunday.
2. Register with YCA + NPS
All volunteers must complete YCA registration and an NPS Volunteer Agreement before heading out.
3. Choose your cleanup
Pick up cleanup supplies and talk with our team about where to go. Want to join a special project? Arrive around 8 AM, as space may be limited.
4. Go Facelift!
Head out for a few hours or spend the whole day giving back. Return your collected trash to the Village Mall for sorting and weighing.
5. Stick around
Come back for the daily gear giveaway, community dinner, films, speakers, music, and evening programs.

Why It Matters
Yosemite is a place of awe and inspiration—but with millions of visitors each year, the park faces serious challenges. Litter accumulates along trails and roadways, fragile habitats are impacted, and the natural balance that makes Yosemite so special is at risk.
Yosemite Facelift is our way of giving back. What started in 2004 as a grassroots cleanup effort by climbers has grown into the largest stewardship event in any national park. Over the years, volunteers have removed more than 1 million pounds of trash—but the true impact goes beyond cleanup.
Facelift fosters a culture of care. It connects people to place, builds relationships between visitors and public land, and reminds us that preserving Yosemite is a shared responsibility. Whether you're hauling trash from the backcountry or picking up micro-trash in the Valley, you're helping protect a place that belongs to all of us—and to future generations.
How to Get Involved
There are many ways to support the 2026 Yosemite Facelift®—whether you’re in the park, at home, or part of a business that wants to give back.
Volunteer
Join us in Yosemite National Park September 23–27. Online registration has closed, but walk-up registration is available throughout the event. Come to the Yosemite Village Mall beginning at 8 AM to register, get cleanup supplies, and find a project. No experience is needed, and you can volunteer for a few hours, a full day, or multiple days.
Donate
Your donation helps fund cleanup supplies, volunteer support, educational programs, and the logistics that make Facelift possible. Every dollar goes directly toward protecting Yosemite and supporting this community-led effort.
